Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting for the role ofEarlyChildhood Educator Assistantto join our team in Surrey BC. The EarlyChildhood Educator Assistants will be supporting our morning classesresponsible in assisting senior staff with childminding to refugee andimmigrant children while their parents and grandparents participate in programmingin the Settlement Community Programs and RISE departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior staff in monitoring children in indoor and outdoor activities and during rest periods;
  • Under supervision of senior staff conduct activities with children such as telling stories teaching songs and leading discussions;
  • Assist with the planning preparation and carrying out developmentally appropriate programs and activities;
  • Be alert and responsive to needs at all times;
  • Foster a caring safe and positive learning environment;
  • Ensure the safety and hygiene of all children;
  • Immediately report any instances of child neglect and/or abuse to the supervisor.

Qualified Candidates will possess:

  • Completion of Grade 12 and currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Education Certificate program or completing work experience required for licensing;
  • At least 6 months of previous experience working with children in a group childcare setting;
  • Previous multicultural or crosscultural experience;
  • Capability of understanding developmental indicators and be highly sensitive to the needs of young children;
  • High degree of comfort around communicating with staff children and parents/caregivers as applicable;
  • Standard first aid training and CPR training are considered an asset.

A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
