PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Work directly under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services and with limited supervision interpret laws rulesregulations to students parents and staff; assist in the preparation of departmental budgets Due Process and State Compliance Reviews; and prepare reports for federal state and local regulatory agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree or higher from a recognized accredited college or university.
- Three years of successful campus and/or district administrative experience;
- Extensive knowledge in the principles of publicschool administration administrative methods and techniques and current trends in special education;
- Ability to supervise the work of others;
- Ability to work cooperatively as a member of an interdepartmental team;
- Special Education Certificate;
- Principal (or equivalent) Certificate
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
- Provide technical expertise information and assistance to the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services regarding assigned functions; assist in formulating and developing policies/procedures/guidelines.
- Communicate and consult with parents and parent groups regarding services for students.
- Monitor campus/district compliance measures to provide technical assistance and training and participate in developing improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain an effective communication system with and among all personnel.
- Oversee the coordination of and assist in budget preparation and projections for assigned areas.
- Supervise and evaluate staff as assigned.
- Manage external and internal funding opportunities to support district initiatives and student needs.
- Work across departments to ensure curriculum standards are implemented across all areas.
- Oversee the facilitation preparation and presentation of staff development.
- Oversee and report on all TEA monitoring efforts.
- Oversee all SPP indicators.
- Oversee TEA SelfAssessment
- Attend administrative team meetings for special education.
- Attend staffings and ARDs as appropriate.
- Keep abreast of developments in special education and conduct training to keep district staff knowledgeable about changes best practices and new developments regarding compliance and procedural safeguards.
- Create and present training programs on implementing local state and federal guidelines in special education.
- Assist with campus and department staffing needs.
- Perform all other specified duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services.
