TITLE: PartTime Maintenance / Custodian for IKAN Regional Office of Education
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Previous experience providing maintenance custodial services preferably in a school setting.
- Perform physical activities including but not limited to standing walking bending climbing for extended periods of time and/or perform essential functions of the position
- Possesses evidence of training in handling bloodborne pathogens
- Must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals cleaning materials dust and noise
- Possess a valid Illinois drivers license.
- Lifting pulling and pushing of 50 pounds unassisted at times
- Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the Regional Superintendent
- Any of the above qualifications may be waived by the Regional Superintendent when necessary
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology and Facilities
SUPERVISES: Summer Help/Student worker when available
JOB GOALS: The custodian supports and provides for an environment for teachers staff students and other adults that is conducive to teaching and learning. The Custodian performs custodial and maintenance duties in and around IKAN Regional Office of Education facilities; troubleshoots performs minor repairs and responds to emergency calls for service; implements setup and takedown for a wide variety of Regional Office of Education events; works closely with employees and the public to meet the custodial needs of the area; and resolves problems to ensure efficient and safe operations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs nonroutine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities.
- Reports and responds to emergency calls for custodial assistance.
- Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of Regional Office of Education events.
- Performs various maintenance and custodial duties including assembly of furniture light electrical repairs and light plumbing such as installation and repair of fixtures in restrooms and classrooms.
- Assist in the relocation of staff and departments within the IKan facility
- Minor grounds keeping including watering and cultivating plants near the building snow removal and salting of sidewalks.
- Maintain inventory and submit order requests as needed.
- Assist in the monitoring of the physical plant systems and work with outside vendors for repairs maintenance and inspections
- Repair of drywall and paining when necessary
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Salary: Between $25 to $28 per hour depending on experience.
