Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Residential Student Case Manager provides nonclinical case management services to students in residence (living in campus housing) whose academic and community success is being impacted by behavioral health and wellbeing needs. This position will provide training to Housing & Residence Life (HRL) staff aid with the transition to on campus living and support general wellbeing efforts within the department.

Department Overview:

Come join us in the Office of the Dean of Students as a Residential Case Manager! As a vital member of our Student Outreach and Assistance Team and working in close coordination with Housing & Residence Life you will provide nonclinical case management services to students in residence (living in campus housing) whose academic and community success is being impacted by behavioral health and wellbeing needs. You will also provide training to Housing & Residence Life staff aid students with the transition to on campus living and support general wellbeing efforts for our residential campus community.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills policies and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Residential Case Manager must:

  • Provide case management services to residential students experiencing various challenges through outreach communication individualized meetings (develop action plans monitor goals support resource navigation assist with problem solving and provide advocacy support) suicide screening and coordination of care with campus and community resources.
  • Maintain timely case management records including updated case records in the database. This position will have access to confidential records and information and will need to practice discretion within their work.
  • Develop and review support plans in consultation with students and perform followups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided.
  • Serve on the Student Intervention Team providing weekly updates and communicating trends observed in cases/situations involving residential students to the appropriate parties in Housing and Residence Life.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with on and off campus resources to increase effectiveness and coordination of services.
  • Serve as a liaison and offer case consultation with Housing and Residence Life staff as needed

30% of Time: Community Development and Residence Education:

  • Monitor processes and implementation of Housing and Residence Life student support protocols including but not limited to: Students with Ongoing Needs (SwON) Ask Listen Refer Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale screener tool rubric.
  • Develop implement and coordinate seasonal residential training in partnership with Residence Life leadership that focuses primarily on awareness prevention intervention and risk reduction of behavioral health concerns.
  • Attend Residence Life staff meetings as needed to aid in the continuity of care for students.
  • Support the efforts for the annual Becoming a Bronco wellness survey

5% of Time:

  • Other duties as assigned. This includes but is not limited to at least 40 hours per year for full time employees dedicated to helping with broad divisional or institution programs or initiatives that may be outside the department such as MoveIn Day Welcome Week Parent & Family Weekend Bronco Day Commencement or other special projects.

Required Training Dates:

  • Annual Resident Director training July
  • Student Leader Summer Training August
  • Student Leader Winter Training January
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability personality and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of principles methods and procedures for diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions and for career counseling and guidance.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
MinimumQualifications:

Bachelors Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in social work or related field.
  • Experience working with emerging adults.
  • Experience with mental health crisis work.
  • Experience working in a school setting.
