Job Description

NEXTDCs Legal function is responsible for providing strategic legal advice to enable the business to achieve its commercial objectives while managing legal risk in compliance with applicable laws.

This role is responsible for providing expert legal advice for NEXTDCs Australian and international operations. Within this role youll provide efficient provision of legal services for one or more business units within NEXTDC to mitigate risks.

Tasks you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing reviewing advising on and negotiating specialist building and construction agreements related to the development of data centres in Australia and overseas. 
  • Providing expert legal advice for NEXTDCs operations negotiation and risk management including the review preparation and amendment of relevant legal documentation on:
    • projects construction and operations matters focussed on data centre development design construction operational and services phases
    • marketing material
    • intellectual property matters 
    • general contract matters for business 
    • ad hoc legal advice on regulatory matters relevant to NEXTDC
  • Assisting in the development of policies procedures and training programmes for staff on relevant legal issues 
  • Providing expert legal advice in the interpretation of legislation and monitoring changes and developments in the legal and regulatory environment 
  • Participating with the management team and external advisers in the evaluation structuring and documentation of future business opportunities 

 


Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Laws and Australian solicitor appointment
  • 48 years experience in postadmission within a wellregarded firm or corporation
  • Background in property commercial or construction law essential
  • Indepth knowledge of relevant acts and legislation
  • Ability to distil complex legal concepts into clear actionable advice for nonlegal stakeholders 
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Strong negotiation especially project contract negotiation and influencing skills 
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands
  • A high degree of integrity and trust
