Job Description

Welcome to Grayson College. Grayson College is in the heart of Grayson County and provides a vital link for higher education. GC offers small classes for personalized instruction affordable tuition caring professional faculty and the convenience of day evening or online classes. The college serves approximately 5000 students annually. Adjunct HVAC Professor:
Role:
Provides classroom and lab instruction in the Heating AirConditioning and Refrigeration Technology (HART) program.
The salary rate for this position is $675.00 per credit hour.

Responsibilities:
75% Teaches no more than 9 credit hours per semester.
10% Works as a team member in the Heating AirConditioning and Refrigeration Technology (HART) program; complies with all faculty responsibilities as outlined in college policies and procedures.
10% Contributes to campus assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.

  4. Provides quality instruction in a classroom or lab learning environment.
  5. Embraces the community college mission and the faculty role of contributing to the technical and general education of students who will apply learning to the world of work and transfer their education to a university or the workplace.
  6. Assesses student knowledge skills and abilities regardless of how or where the learning or skills were acquired.
  7. Participates in professional development and stays current in both the professional field and in current teaching/learning practices.

Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in HVAC technologies.
  • Minimum of three years of HVAC experience.
  • Five years of industry experience and classroom teaching are preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process and proven commitment to student success.
  • Collegial attitude with college community as well as outside entities.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience tracking student learning outcomes analyzing resultant data and implementing improvement plans.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • This position requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping.
  • The job may require periodic lifting of heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings.
