Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC is looking for a UX/UI Design CO-OP - Controls Products in Suwanee GA for Spring 2026.

The candidate will start in January 2026 ideally on 1/12/2026.

Position Description

• Mitsubishi Electric Trane US HVAC designs and manufactures heat pump systems and controls for the North American market. Our focus is on comfort sustainability and energy efficiency. Were passionate about developing heating and cooling solutions that provide personal comfort and strive for energy efficiency.
• We are looking for a UX/UI Design candidate to join our fast-growing Design team who can complete 3 alternating semesters full-time.
• Our UX/UI Design Interns are given real-world opportunities to take on impactful end-to-end projects from ideation to production. This includes collaborating with other designers on the team and our cross-functional partners empathizing with our customers understanding the problem space exploring potential solutions presenting to stakeholders and strengthening technical design skills and product sense along the way.
• The intern will join the Comfort App team that allows users to control and manage their heat pump systems through our Comfort mobile app

Key Responsibilities

• Design digital user experience flows to address user needs and improve user pain points while supporting business goals
• Conceptualize features through sketches wireframes and/or functional prototypes
• Collaborate in design team discussions by providing and receiving constructive feedback on designs
• Participate in user research and user engagement sessions listening to customer feedback and understand needs that will drive and define UX strategies
• Partner closely with product and engineering teams to bring designs to life while fulfilling business needs
• Present design work to stakeholders regularly
• Leverage our design systems standards and guidelines and advocate for consistency across teams

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree-seeking program with at least 1 year completed in Product Design User Experience Design Human-Computer Interaction Industrial Design or related fields
• Must be able to work 40 hours a week in our Suwanee GA office Monday through Friday.
• Portfolio showcasing user experience visual design and user interface work with strong design thinking and thoughtful storytelling
• Solid understanding of common design principles
• Comfortable thinking through complex interaction designs
• An eye for elegant visual and UI skills
• Proficient in Figma Adobe Creative Suite Sketch and/or other design tools
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Organized and exceptional time management skills
• No ego open-minded growth mindset
• Comfortable working independently and self-motivated but also driven and collaborative in group discussions

Bonus Points

• Experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights
• Comfortable with prototyping tools and Atlassian products.
• Knowledgeable about the product development process
• Familiarity working with design systems

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $16.54 and $22.74 per hour however base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location job-related knowledge skills and experience.
The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements including target bonus plans and discretionary awards. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical dental vision and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employees eligible dependents. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation per year 56 hours of paid sick leave annually and 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year depending on hire date. Employees may also take up to 12 weeks of paid or unpaid parental/disability/emergency/etc. leave if eligible.
