JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The College of Engineering Student Research office provides opportunities for students to become involved in research or academically focused enrichment programs. In the summer our office supports multiple undergraduate research programs that include over 75 students. The research experience empowers students to better conceptualize course material in the classroom and determine areas of interest and to explore career paths. Students work with a faculty member and their team to understand and solve realworld problems. In addition our office provides professional development and community building programming to enhance the overall student research experience.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Plan and oversee all professional development and academic support activities
Coordinate student community programming
Hold office hours to meet with program participants
Provide direction for undergraduate participants
Develop collaborative working relationships with Faculty Mentors
Assist program administrators with tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Must have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (preferably in Education but not required).
Knowledgeable about resources on campus (both academic and social).
Knowledgeable about or experience working with undergraduate students.
Understanding of collaborative projects and the ability to encourage group work.
Possess student development event / programming skills.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Sharp organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and in a teamoriented environment.
Ability to maintain professionalism and act as a role model for students.
Please note: this is a limited summer position for graduate students with an anticipated start date of May 16 through August 6. Hours for the position vary based upon the needs of the program including some weekend or evening hours. The number of hours per week will depend on the successful candidates availability and up to 40 hours per week.
