JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
About the Internship
This parttime summer internship offers undergraduate students the opportunity to engage in projects that promote educational equity access and student belonging at Penn State. Interns will contribute to meaningful work that intersects with higher education policy student engagement and institutional strategy.
The role is ideal for students interested in careers in education public service student affairs policy or academic administration.
Responsibilities
Intern responsibilities will align with individual strengths and academic interests and may include:
Supporting the planning and coordination of summer programs and events for students or campus partners
Assisting with research data summaries or policy briefs related to student outcomes and equity efforts
Creating materials to support communications outreach and program visibility (e.g. brochures web updates short reports)
Conducting brief interviews or collecting student stories to inform internal initiatives
Participating in staff meetings and contributing to discussions on strategy and planning
Completing a final deliverable aligned with personal academic or professional goals
Preferred Qualifications
Open to rising sophomores or juniors with a background in education public policy or liberal arts fields:
Are interested in higher education access student development or equity in institutional systems
Possess strong writing research or organizational skills
Are comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a professional environment
Demonstrate a willingness to learn and engage with diverse perspectives
Have familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office Google Suite or basic content platforms (helpful but not )
