Job Description

Accounts Receivable Specialist

Community Action is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Fiscal team. This role is Responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer in the activities of the organizations fiscal department including assisting key staff in the maintenance of accounts creation and the review of financial accounting documentation. Primarily responsible for the administration of Accounts Receivable for Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties and Community Action Housing Development Program (CAHDC).

Starting Pay: $21.33/hour.

Working Hours : 30 hours per week

The Role:

  • Process and enter cash receipts invoices and account payments into accounting software; maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Prepare monthly accounts receivable billing and maintain extended care billing for childcare services including invoice submissions.
  • Support general ledger accuracy for payroll receivables payables and yearend financial processes; assist with audits and compliance checks.
  • Deliver weekly customer statements handle inquiries from staff and clients and manage aged payment negotiations and plans.
  • Facilitate and monitor credit card gift card and online checkout processes; maintain and file contracts and department documents.
  • Attend agency and community meetings trainings and contribute to team collaboration and professional development activities.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support departmental needs and organizational goals.

    Qualifications:

  • Degree certification or college course work in Accounting or a related field required. Relevant experience in various accounting fields may substitute for education requirement.
  • Must be able to read write and communicate English effectively.
  • Must enter position at Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Outlook and basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to protect the confidentiality and validity of agency client data.
  • Must be able to take initiative to continually improve service model.
  • Would prefer knowledge of Accounting and Auditing principles.
  • Would prefer knowledge of nonprofit accounting software. (MIP Accounting software preferred).
  • Must be able to comply with agency and program policies including all confidentiality and safety policies.
