Job Description

Overview and Responsibilities

The Associate Dean of Nursing & Allied Health works with faculty staff and CVTC leadership to improve and enhance program effectiveness through planning and delivery of curriculum the supervision and evaluation of appropriate faculty and program support staff and scheduling of courses and instructors. Responsibilities include ensuring continuing program operation on a daytoday and longterm basis in areas such as scheduling budgeting and meeting operational and equipment needs as well as oversight of various initiatives that are part of the division including program enrollment course delivery student retention and completion and assessment of student learning outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate the updating of program and/or department outcomes and assessment.
  • Oversee assigned Divisional courses ensuring quality of instruction.
  • Implement College goals within courses and programs.
  • Interact and utilize function teams in the CVTC system.
  • Operate all campus courses in a costeffective manner.
  • Coordinate appropriate staffing for efficient/effective operation of programs.
  • Coordinate scheduling of courses within assigned programs.
  • Serve as campus representative for daytoday operations of the Health Education Center Business Education Center and River Falls campusas needed.
  • Ensure alignment of all competencies to outcomes through curriculum mapping.
  • Provide training and development during optional and mandatory inservice programs.
  • Participate in divisional scheduling planning and course development efforts.
  • Coordinate with the dean and program directors and/or department chairs to plan and lead the assigned programs.
  • Promote courses and programs and participate in student recruitment activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry and educational partners.
  • Assist in scheduling staffing and promoting workforce initiatives.
  • Collaborate with educational partners in K12 and fouryear universities.
  • Assist with scheduling and staffing of K12 offerings.
  • Support the development of career pathway options and transfer for current and prospective students.
  • Coordinate capital equipment and operational budget management for assigned programs/departments in compliance with the Colleges fiscal plan.
  • Administer grants and complete all necessary grant reporting.
  • Facilitate communication among faculty.
  • Assist with faculty selection for committee work and recruitment events.
  • Achieve goals for learning outcomes quality measures and overall institutional effectiveness and productivity measures established for departments and programs.
  • Recruit students and promote courses and programs in accordance with the College Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan.
  • Develop program and department personnel on a continual basis.
  • Collaborate with College Professional Development to support faculty and staff.
  • Communicate with all employees and maintain a successful team environment.
  • Oversee appropriate staffing for learning and effective/efficient operation of assigned programs and departments; facilitate faculty selection process and evaluation.
  • Evaluate performance of program and department personnel in accordance with CVTC policies and procedures.
  • Participate on appropriate college teams and contribute to accomplishing the goals and objectives of the team(s).
  • Participate in academic leadership meetings as scheduled in various committees and attend College Board meetings as needed.
  • Intervene in student and faculty issues.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with the Wisconsin Technical College System instructional and curricular policies initiatives processes and procedures.
  • Strong leadership facilitation and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently toward program/department/divisional goals.
  • Ability to use judgment discretion and decisionmaking and conflict resolution skills in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to model integrity through selfawareness personal accountability ethical behavior quality standards and sustainable practices.
  • Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices acquiring relevant information using technology and other resources appropriately and evaluating alternatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively by speaking and writing clearly concisely and professionally; practicing active listening; reading critically and adapting communication for audience.
  • Ability to value diversity by recognizing personal biases adapting to culturally diverse situations and demonstrating a commitment to equity inclusion and respectful interactions with persons of diverse ethnic cultural socialeconomic or educational backgrounds.
  • Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication data collection and decision making including but not limited to Microsoft Office Outlook Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to various campuses and state meetings.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university or masters degree in progress.
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience required experience at postsecondary level preferred.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a team management environment preferred.
  • Experience with staff development and evaluation preferred.
  • Current Wisconsin licensure in a health or related field.
