Primary Purpose:
Plan and provide a continuum of services to include direct consult and supplementary aids and services for students with physical disabilities. Assess students and plan therapeutic intervention to eliminate/reduce obstacles or decrease the impact of impairments that interfere with students ability to access their environment and participate in their educational program.
Education / Certification:
- Bachelors degree Masters degree or Doctorate in Physical
- Valid Texas license as a physical therapist granted by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Knowledge of medical information and indications for physical therapy
- Skill in the use of test and measurements for assessing physical

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Therapy
- Plan and provide a continuum of services consistent with the goals and services outlined in students Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for dismissal of physical therapy
- Secure purchase adjust and recommend equipment to meet student
Assessment
- Assess students with physical disabilities and make recommendations regardingeligibility for related services.
- Participate in the Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpretations of assessment data appropriate placement and goal setting for students with physical disabilities according to district procedures.
- Adapt or recommend adaptation of the school
Consultation
- Consult with educational staff regarding the use of specialized equipment and
- Consult with district and outside personnel including private therapists and other medical staff regarding the physical and medical needs of students.
- Provide staff development training in assigned schools to help school personnelappropriately support students with physical disabilities.
- Consult with parents teachers administrators and other providers to enhance students ability to access and participate in their educational environment
Student Management
- Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
- Consults with classroom teachers regarding management of student behavior according to the IEP.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
- Managing student behavior and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Program Management
- Continually evaluate and follow best practices for provision of physical therapy in the educational environment.
- Assist in the selection of equipment and adaptive materials for student and campus needs
- Be responsible for maintenance storage and purchasing of necessary adaptive equipment for physical therapy needs.
Administration
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other required documents.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state laws State Board of Education rule and local board policy.

- Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job
- Responsible for properly maintaining district records adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance ad learning the records retention schedule for department records.
