The Downtown West Clinic is currently seeking a fulltime temporary (18 months) Team Lead. Reporting to the Manager of the Downtown West Clinic and working collaboratively with the clinical care leadership group the Team Lead supports the Manager to anticipate needs of the outpatient clinic over time and collaborates with the clinics interprofessional team to provide effective coordination of client/patientcentered care consistent with CAMHs vision and strategic directions. The Team Lead will assume responsibility for the communication liaison and coordination of client/patient admissions discharges transfers and client assignments. The successful candidate will facilitate service delivery ensuring a high standard of quality and safety. The Team Lead will ensure that the client/patient assignment is clear and reflects the principles of accountability for care also ensuring that client/patient assignments are accurate and properly recorded as per established clinics processes and CAMH standards. The Team Lead will coordinate staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage of the clinic and lead daily/weekly team and treatment planning meetings. They will also assume a small caseload of clients. You will link new staff with appropriate clinic resources and facilitate orientation to the clinic ensuring they become familiar with the clinics procedures/processes. You will coordinate and/or assign in collaboration with clinical supervisors/preceptors an appropriate CAMH staff to assist students of all disciplines educating them on team procedures and to assist with client/patient care issues. The Team Lead will collaborate with the manager regarding staff participation in offunit meetings/ training educational events such as Nursing Practice Council Education Rounds You will ensure that the monthly admission/discharge reports are accurate and follow appropriate clinic procedures transfer of care report and other relevant reports as required. The Team Lead will serve as the first point of clinical support guiding the team with any questions or concerns while keeping the Manager and APCL informed and involved. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable standards and requirements and contribute to the development implementation and evaluation of bestpractices all of which advance excellence in nursing and client/patient care. This position will be based at 10 White Squirrel Way and will be a regular day shift.
The successful candidate must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and be able to practice nursing without restrictions. A current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is also required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess or are currently pursuing a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. At least two years (or 3900 hours) of clinical experience within the mental health and additions Outpatient field is required; with a particular focus on clients with schizophrenia and specific knowledge of the recoverybased model of care. The successful candidate will possess proficiency and leadership in problemsolving decisionmaking conflict resolution negotiation communication delegation critical thinking team building and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will possess the ability to think at a programlevel and participate in unitlevel as well as organizationwide change initiatives. The individual will have the ability to communicate effectively with the team including management both verbally and in writing; knowledge of the roles of interdisciplinary team members their professional responsibilities and areas of expertise is essential. Demonstrated expertise in maintaining a culture of safety for staff clients/patient families and visitors according to CAMH and regulatory standards is critical. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
