Job Description

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Simulation Specialist serves as a technical expert who is responsible for set up operation of computers AV/IT equipment full body computerized manikins supplies and procedural task training models. Provides technical educational and training support to the Simulation Center staff students and instructors to assist in the delivery of high quality simulation based educational events. Understands the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to screen based simulations to full body patient simulators standardized patients and virtual and augmented reality simulators.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides excellent customer service and assists with visitor and guided tours as needed
  • Programs tests and runs simulation scenarios for faculty simulation facilitators assuring that the facility equipment manikins standardized patients and supplies are set up appropriately and that desired outcomes will be achieved; interpret and implement changes when necessary.
  • Ensures timely setup supply stocking and turnover for daily simulation and educational activities
  • Provides full multimedia support including capture editing and delivery of simulationbased educational sessions and healthcare scenarios including repair of simulation equipment
  • Assist with Training Simulation Facilitators and other simulation users in the operational/technical aspects of simulation.
  • Assist or leads in costuming and moulage requirements for scenarios and events.
  • Role plays in simulated scenarios as necessary.
  • Assists in the creation and repair of simulation supplies and equipment including the use of 3D printing and silicone models
  • Reconciles inventory usage for simulation events and maintains adequate level of supplies in an organized manner.
  • Collaborates with simulation team in designing innovative approaches to solving problems and improving processes.
  • Completes requirements to become a proctor for FES and FLS testing
  • Assist with accreditation processes and research studies as needed.
  • Maintains data security and confidentiality in accordance with applicable federal state and local guidelines
  • Recommends replacements or new purchases of simulation related equipment or supplies
  • Ensure appropriate set up & breakdown/clean up (moulage staging) of simulation environment equipment and supplies

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with multimedia equipment and digital audiovisual technology and production or willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication interpersonal analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel to various other Health Care facilities as needed
  • Ability to move equipment and learning materials (up to 50 pounds)

Required Licenses

  • Valid drivers license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or bachelors degree in a healthcare or technology field
  • Background in computer use set up trouble shooting and maintenance of technology equipment and/ or manikins
  • Video processing and editing experience
  • Experience with healthcare simulation technology

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Demonstrates proficiency with Windows
  • Strong computer knowledge in Word Excel and PowerPoint

SCHEDULE:

Regular attendance onsite is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per work week; weekend holiday or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments or evening activities as requested by the team leader.

Reports to Simulation Operational Manager

POSITION COMPENSATION:

$23.32 full time full benefits
