JOB SUMMARY
Acts as an instructor or support position within the Advanced Studies and Programs (ASP) Division assisting Summer Bridge programs/Saturday extensions Apex Arts Apex Plus or Saturday in the Arts Programs; STEM BMAH IB Apex Arts Problem Based Learning Modules; Advanced Learning Programs Single Subject Instruction in grades 35; and CoCurricular Offerings. Creates a learning environment that provides for student access and involvement in the process and enables each student to achieve identified objectives.

Based on the assignment the following additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports or leads the planning and preparation of instructional materials.
- Establishes or implements learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs curriculum framework and knowledge of human growth and development.
- Prepares administers and corrects evaluations and assessments as appropriate to the contract position and maintains accurate and complete records as required by law Board Policy and Administrative Regulation.
- Selects and uses appropriate instructional strategies including but not limited to lectures group discussions demonstrations modeling and multimedia teaching aids to support or lead in the presentation of subject matter to students.
- Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques if Itinerant teacher.
- Supports or leads in the maintenance of order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning and takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities. Counsels pupils when adjustment problems arise.
- Confers with parents and students regarding progress/problems of assigned students; arranges and participates in teacherparent or teacherstudent conferences as necessary or appropriate to the position.
- Monitors appropriate use and care of learning tools equipment textbooks materials and facilities.
- Attends and actively participates in program meetings as appropriate providing input regarding the planning of instructional goals objectives and methods.
- Supports the implementation of program tenets within the assigned ASP Office.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
- Bachelors Degree in applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required depending on assignment. Otherwise Bachelors degree is preferred.
Experience
- One (1) year Instructional or Teaching Performance Expectations (TPE) evidence of effectiveness experience if assigned to a teaching position required.
Knowledge Skills Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Knowledge of current trends research in field of specialization and methodology in instructional techniques technology multicultural content problem solving and interdisciplinary connections preferred as specific to the office/program purpose or need.
- Demonstrated ability to speak and write effectively.
- Familiarity or experience with electronic leave reporting/substitute requesting systems (e.g. SmartFind Express) electronic grade reporting (e.g. Power Teacher GradeBook) and electronic teacher/parent communication tool (e.g. ParentConnect) and ability to use instructional technology hardware such as document cameras presenters and SmartBoards etc. as appropriate to the position.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing Microsoft Office Suite Word Excel Outlook and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses certifications and enrollment as a condition of employment.
- Based on assignment Educator Certification: Professional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) educator certificate appropriate to the assigned teaching content area issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
