Why Your Role Matters:
The Business Analyst role sits within EPMO while providing dedicated support the Program Simplification Stream in the Student Experience Program and is required to gather analyse and interpret data. The position is responsible for defining organisational and business requirements and developing effective solutions through analysing business operations to identify areas of improvement and to meet objectives. It is also responsible for the application of extensive theoretical policy and technical knowledge to guide the management of projects developing or evaluating policies and introducing new principles or technologies. In addition to building key internal and external relationships and consultation with faculty teams independent analysis in at times complex and specialised environments.
The Business Analyst will collaborate with project team to identify and map program change plans and business impacts. The Business Analyst reports to the Project Manager and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities:
- Requirement gathering and business analysis for programs of work by drawing upon effective practices.
- Gather evaluate and document functional and nonfunctional business requirements and confirm that these will fulfil the original business requirements and that the requirements documentation is of sufficient quality to begin solution development.
- Conduct data and process mapping and analysis and provide recommendations for maintaining and/or improving data quality.
- Conduct financial and operational modelling to provide financial insights and metrics that help decision making.
- Identify issues risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outlining business impacts and estimate cost and business savings.
- Proactively identify and assess alternatives. Review the business case and risk analysis (if these have been prepared by others e.g. systems analyst) and advise the client/owner of the implications of the analysis.
- Develop process maps of as is and to be processes using Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) and existing templates within the Universitys framework and ensure that to be process design adheres to the design principles.
- Provide recommendations to improve practices and processes that contribute to a culture of continuous process improvement.
- Coordinate stakeholder impact of Business Process Improvement activities and work with project leads to minimise business disruption arising from stakeholder interactions by examining processes holistically to understand the impacts of change on people strategy systems and general business operations.
- Support the change management and training to understand the impacts of changes in business processes system requirements and functionality etc.
- Compile complex data models from multiple sources of truth and provide detailed analysis trends and inconsistencies. Develop recommendations for the revision of UNSW policies procedures and guidelines for presentation to senior stakeholders.

Skills and Experience Summary:
- Bachelors degree in business accounting finance or a related field and has or is pursuing Certified Practitioner in Business Analysis (IIBA or PMP) or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through education/training/experience.
- Demonstrated experience with business requirements analysis and business process analysis using the appropriate frameworks.
- Experience identifying and mapping As Is and creating To Be business processes.
- Demonstrated experience in applying Lean Six Sigma skills (certification desirable).
- Knowledge and understanding of business processes within a tertiary education environment and change management principles
- Excellent analytical skills and problemsolving skills to critically evaluate information and data gathered from multiple sources.
- Proven ability to reconcile conflicts decompose high level information into more detail and the ability to abstract from low level information to a more general understanding.
- Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining excellent professional working relationships with stakeholders to develop trust and confidence in business process improvement initiatives.
- Effective written and oral communication skills with proven facilitation skills (workshops with diverse groups including vendor technical personnel and end users).
- Advanced skills in the use of standard office toolsets including word processors spreadsheets drawing/diagramming tools (such as Excel PowerPoint Word and Viso).
- Strong time management and organisational skills to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and deliver according to project timeframes.
