Job Description

The Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta is looking for a skilled contemporary and passionate Primary K6 Teacher to be part of our school community and enrich the lives of our students.

Teachers within the Diocese are responsible to the Principal and share in the learning and teaching of subject matters to students of the school community. Teachers are responsible for delivering high quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community they serve which is embedded in the Catholic world view. It is a collaborative ministry of witness and service and part of the evangelising mission of the Church.

Key focus areas

The Primary K6 Teacher will fit the following criteria:

  • Has a strong understanding of how to design lessons that support the physical social and intellectual growth of students. Excellent teachers are wellversed in the content and sequence of Key Learning Areas including Religious Education.

  • Grasps the core concepts structures and inquiry processes needed to develop and teach engaging programs. They know how to create developmentally appropriate strategies that make learning meaningful and effective for their students.

  • Creates and maintains safe inclusive and challenging learning environments while using fair and consistent behavior management plans. Top teachers continually assess and reflect on their teaching to ensure they meet the diverse needs of their students using assessment data to address learning barriers and inspire students to improve.

  • Works effectively across all stages of the teaching and learning cycle from planning lessons and assessments to developing programs teaching giving feedback and keeping parents/carers informed about student progress.

  • Embraces opportunities to engage with the school community both inside and outside the classroom working to strengthen the connections between school home and community to support the social and intellectual growth of students.

The Organisation

Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta provides quality learning and teaching in a faithcentred environment across 83 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney.

This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for childrelated employment including the completion of a National Police Check retention of a valid Working with Children Check and adoption and compliance with CEDPs Child Safeguarding Procedures and Code of Conduct When Working With Students and Children.

CEDP promotes the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.
