Summer school Instructional Assistant Group Leader Grades 78 (Temporary)
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- This program will provide an enriching experience which will contribute to the personal and social development of the students. The purpose is to help students focus on understanding how choice affects educational and social mobility and on strengthening students selfesteem.
- The instructional assistant will learn how to deliver instruction and work with students on the REAL Power Series curriculum. This will include training/ professional development before the program starts with the staff. The IA will be expected to practice several of the techniques and tools provided by the training.
- The IA will perform a series of activities with the team and students geared towards personal emotional and professional development. The IA will do group work and presentations with their respective teams. They will also meet with students who need help one on one. This position involves active participation and speaking in front of an audience as well as encouraging students to do the same by leading fun and engaging activities.
- The position may also require the IA to play sports and other physical activity. No heavy lifting is involved. It is important for the IA to have knowledge in cultural and inclusive practices and preferably speak Spanish and be able to communicate with students and families. It is also imperative that the IA is able to build positive relationships with staff and students.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred not required
- Effective communication skills with students parents and staff
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Applicants must be highly qualified as per federal guidelines prior to being hired. To be highly qualified an applicant must meet one of the following criteria:
- An Associates Degree (or higher)
- Two years of postsecondary study from an institution of higher learning (48 semester or 72 quarter hours)
- Pass the FGSD Assessment
