How you will make an impact:

MTS (Meissner Technical Services) provides complete laboratory testing application expertise and validation services to support Meissner products. Our experienced filtration engineers microbiologists and scientists are dedicated to providing our customers with solutions to maximize system efficiency economics and safety. We enable customers to speed new and existing pharmaceutical and bioprocessing products to market by expediting solutions that meet their filtration and singleuse systems technical and validation requirements.

The MTS Viral Filtration Lab Intern will work semiindependently to perform viral clearance studies using Meissner ultrafiltration membranes. This work will generate critical information which demonstrates Meissner ultrafiltration membranes can function as viral retentive filters. Handson experience with microbiology techniques and concepts will be required for this role as well as strong attention to detail to ensure the test methods are performed correctly.

• Perform viral clearance studies with guidance from the Senior Scientist and gather results.
• Maintain and propagate bacterial host and bacteriophage cultures and stocks.
• Prepare reagents and equipment for viral clearance studies including preparation of agar plates and liquid media as well as operating the autoclave to sterilize equipment and reagents.
• Dispose of waste appropriately including biohazard waste and maintain cleanliness in the laboratory.
• Maintain a detailed organized and accurate laboratory notebook.

The skills and experience youll need:

• Current university student or recent graduate in a Biology field preferably Microbiology.
• Direct experience with microbiology laboratory concepts and techniques is required including aseptic technique bacterial culture and growth media preparation. Universitylevel coursework related to microbiology is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of bacteriophage biology is required. Handson experience with bacteriophage is preferred but not required.
• Experience with filtration is preferred but not required.
• Must have strong English Language written and verbal communication skills.

US BASE PAY SCALE $20.00 $25.00/hr

The base pay scale for this role is what Meissner reasonably expects to pay for the position although actual pay may vary from this scale depending on an applicants experience.
