Senior Scientist High Throughput Screening (HTS)
Location: Waltham MA
About the Role
At AstraZeneca we are pioneering the future of medicine through our bold vision to extend human healthspan. Our newly established Aging Research Group is leading this charge by developing innovative therapeutics that not only add years to lifebut life to years.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our dynamic and growing team. As a key member of this crossfunctional group you will play a critical role in the design validation and execution of assays tailored for high throughput screening (HTS). Your work will directly contribute to identifying small molecule candidates that reverse ageassociated cellular dysfunction.
This position offers the unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of healthcare while working in a collaborative fastpaced environment at the forefront of aging research.
Key Responsibilities
Design develop and optimize HTScompatible assays for small molecule screening.
Execute HTS campaigns and analyze large complex datasets to identify and prioritize hit compounds.
Develop and implement cellbased methods to assess senescence and other aging phenotypes.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to progress validated hits through the drug discovery pipeline.
Present scientific findings in team meetings crossfunctional collaborations and external conferences.
Stay current on advancements in aging biology and HTS methodologies incorporating new tools and strategies where appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in a relevant field with 14 years postdoctoral or industry experience OR
MS with 35 years relevant experience OR
BS with 5 years of experience in assay development and screening.Proven expertise in assay development validation and execution for HTS platforms.
Experience with highcontent imaging/microscopy and corresponding data analysis workflows.
Proficiency in HTS data analysis tools and visualization software.
Excellent communication presentation and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative fastpaced and evolving research environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong background in cellular senescence and agingassociated phenotypes.
Industry experience in drug discovery within a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.
Familiarity with automation platforms used in HTS.
Record of peerreviewed publications or patents in aging biology or screening technologies.
