Job Description

  • JROTC Army Instructor
Eligibility:
  • Noncommissioned Officers must be retired and within three years from retirement date from the Army in the grades of E6 through E9
  • Warrant Officers must be retired and within three years from retirement date from the army in the grades W1 through W5
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Army Regulation 1452 and Cadet Command regulation 1452 contain specific information pertaining to the roles and responsibilities within the JROTC Program

  • Senior Army Instructor (Department Head)
  • Army Instructor
Additional information:
  • In addition to teaching in the classroom there are a number of activities that will require JROTC instructors to work outside of the regular school hours. An instructors work week could easily exceed 50 hours and may include additional weekend activities.

Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP) is the difference between official retired pay reported by the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and the active duty pay and allowances (excluding hazardous duty and special pays) that a JROTC instructor would receive if ordered to active duty Pay and Allowances are based on DFAS current year Military Pay Tables and include the following::
  • Basic Pay
  • Basic Allowance for Housing
  • Cost of Living Allowance (if applicable)
  • Overseas Housing Allowance (if applicable)
  • Overseas Cost of Living Allowance (if applicable)
  • Clothing Maintenance Allowance (enlisted only)
  • Basic Allowance for Subsistence
Submitted Packets Must Include:
  • Copy of last 3 consecutive official evaluation reports (All 3 required with no gaps or courtesy copies) academic evaluations included (to obtain missing military documents please access your AKO account at ).
  • Most recent copy of ORB (Officer) ERB (NCO) or PQR for AGR personnel.
  • DD Form 214 Copy 4 Retirement Orders DA Form 5016 (Chronological Statement of Retirement Points) Reservist ONLY or NGB22 National Guard ONLY.
  • A copy of DA Form 5500 (.pdf) (Body Fat Content Worksheet Male) or DA Form 5501 (.pdf) (Body Fat Content Worksheet Female) taken within 6 months (if required).
  • Copy of your highest official transcripts from an accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the Department of Education.
  • Copy of most recent physical exam conducted within the last 12 months on either:
  • DD Forms 2808 and CCF 211R.
  • Copy of VA Rating Decision if awarded 30% or greater.
