General Summary
Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to established Wellspan Oncology Servile Line standards and practices at a beginning or intermediate specialist skills level. Assists with CTsimulation procedures and/or other treatments/procedures as required.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients; obtains patient history answers patient questions and explains procedure.
- Checks prescription diagnosis chart patient identification etc.
- Prepares room and equipment for patient.
- Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician nurses dietician etc. concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
- Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
- Performs IGRT tumor localization procedures.
- Prepares patient and equipment for and performs simulation procedures.

- Demonstrates a commitment to patient visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and error proof systems that will lead to increased patient safety. Participates in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
- Maintains established policies and procedures objectives quality assessment safety environmental and infection control standards. Completes annual required LMS training as assigned.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs current literature inservice meetings and workshops. Maintains current ARRT certification.
- Maintains appropriate documentation in the EHR as required by the profession and Wellspan Oncology Service Line.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Supervises assists and evaluates students in the clinical education setting.
- Aids in the training of radiation therapy students.
QualificationsQualifications
Minimum Education:
- Associates Degree Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program Required
Work Experience:
- Less than 1 year Relevant experience. Required
Licenses:
- Registered TechnologistRadiation Therapy ARRT within 180 days Required and
- Basic Life Support within 180 days Required
Courses and Training:
- Appropriate training in radiation therapy. Upon Hire Required
