Job Summary Security/Senior Systems Engineer (Athol MA)
Position Overview:
Hybrid role combining Systems Engineering and Security Operations responsibilities.
Support and administration of Microsoft platforms (M365 Windows Server AD Entra ID).
Oversee daily security operations and ensure system efficiency security and compliance.
Collaborate with IT and stakeholders to align technology with business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Security Operations
Act as primary security specialist for all company sites/divisions.
Oversee security operations: patch management asset management and incident response.
Manage security tools: firewalls IDS/IPS antivirus SIEM etc.
Coordinate with IT/other departments to integrate security measures.
Lead security awareness and training programs for end users.
Deploy and manage security tool agents.
Conduct access control and recurring security reviews.
Systems Administration & Engineering
Configure patch and troubleshoot Microsoft M365 and Exchange systems.
Plan and execute migration projects to M365 (email Teams SharePoint OneDrive).
Provide advanced M365 support and resolve technical issues.
Collaborate with teams to deliver technical solutions.
Maintain documentation for system configurations and procedures.
Mentor junior engineers and IT staff on Microsoft M365/Exchange.
Security Strategy Governance & Compliance
Establish track and report on security KPIs under CIO/vCISO direction.
Participate in security governance and leadership updates.
Maintain and update security policies procedures and protocols.
Ensure consistent security landscape across all company locations.
Incident Management
Manage and coordinate incident response (containment eradication recovery).
Conduct postincident analysis and implement preventative measures.
Maintain/updating incident response plans and team preparedness.
Perform risk assessments and vulnerability analyses.
Threat Intelligence & Analysis
Monitor threat intelligence feeds and emerging threats/vulnerabilities.
Conduct threat analysis and provide actionable security insights.
Collaborate with external partners (cybersecurity firms agencies) to share intelligence and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Information Security Computer Science or related field.
5 years experience in system engineering and/or information security.
Proficiency with Microsoft AD M365 Entra ID PowerShell Azure AD Intune and hybrid environments.
Experience with security tools (firewalls IDS/IPS SIEM).
Security and M365 certifications (e.g. CISSP CISM CEH M365).
Strong networking knowledge (DNS DHCP SSL/TLS).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of security protocols data protection and GDPR compliance.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
