About the Role:
SoftLabs is seeking Senior Software Tester for ICT Labour hire at their technology consulting based in ACT.
Job Details
ASD requires a Software Tester to ensure highquality software delivery by designing and executing test cases based on business and technical requirements. The tester will be responsible for identifying and reporting defects maintain test documentations and collaborating with developers to support continues quality improvement across the software development lifecycle.
Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD s Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to engagement. The OSA requires a psychological assessment which involves a questionnaire and an interview. The commencement date is dependent on the successful candidate having a successful outcome to the OSA. The estimated commencement date listed here on BuyICT is 11/08/2025 however is dependent on the time it takes for the OSA outcome.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Design build and develop test plan and test cases to ensure software quality and alignment with business requirements.
- Identify document and track software defects working closely with developers to ensure timely resolution.
- Work closely with developers business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional requirements and ensure thorough test coverage.
- Implement and maintain automated test scripts where applicable using appropriate testing frameworks and tools.
- Assist and priorities testing efforts based on risks complexity and business impact.
- Contribute to the refinement of testing processes tools and methodologies to enhance software quality and delivery efficiency.
Essential Criteria
1. Demonstrable experience in Java Software testing QA or quality engineering within agile or waterfall project environment.
2. Solid understanding of testing methodologies (e.g. Agile Testing Functional/Nonfunctional Testing).
3. Demonstrable experience with test management tools like Jira and defect tracking.
4. Strong Analytical skills with ability to identify edge cases and potential issues.
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience testing in government or public sector environments.
2. Knowledge of API testing performance testing and security testing.
3. Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes.
4. Experience with version control system systems (e.g. Git) and documentation platforms (e.g. Confluence SharePoint).
