Nexus Community Partners is a communitybuilding intermediary whose mission is to build more engaged and powerful communities of color by supporting communitybuilding initiatives and foster social and human capital. Nexus addresses the deep isolation within communities of color and Indigenous communities caused by personal institutional and structural racism by promoting an equity centered engagement model; supporting the development of leaders; democratizing wealth; and by reclaiming culture as an asset.
About the Open Road Fund: The Open Road Fund is a $50 million program that supports wealth building efforts by Black individuals descended from Africans enslaved anywhere in the Americas that reside in Minnesota North and South Dakota. Each year we will make 100 awards of at least $50000 to Black individuals. Our purpose is supporting Black peoples projects to create a legacy of wealth wellbeing opportunity and justice for their families and communities.
Position Summary
This entrylevel role focuses on grants administration and operations including work with Salesforce Grants Management (Outbound Funds Module) grants process design funding request review and grantee support. Youll also assist with copywriting and grants communications while gaining exposure to Black cooperative and solidarity economy history. This position is ideal for those pursuing careers in grantmaking fundraising or nonprofit leadership.
The Open Road Fund team emphasizes participatory and community support focused approaches to the work. The Grant Associate works closely with grant seekers and community leaders providing them with the support needed to access the Open Road Fund. You will take charge of correspondence with applicants vendors and external stakeholders for our team. Most importantly you will help steward the grantmaking operations processes of the fund ensuring that applicants are fairly selected and successfully awarded. Per year you will help redistribute up to $5 million dollars.

Position Functions & Responsibilities
Grant Operations Support (60%)
- Support the Grants Manager in database related activities such as creating updating and cleaning up program records.
- Assist our team with implementing streamlining and evaluating our grants administration processes.
- Assists with screening and review grant applications following up with applicants as needed.
- Track advancement of programs grantmaking workplan using our grants and project management systems.
- Assist the Grants Manager in implementing and documenting technical changes to our grants management systems and processes.
- Provide technical support on demand and as needed to a high volume of grant seekers
- Collaborates with the team to develop and coordinate programming that supports grant seekers.
- Most importantly help track and process grantee payments; following up with grantees as needed.
Administrative Support (40%)
- Acts as the primary point of contact for grant seekers vendors partners and key stakeholdersboth within the organization and the broader community. Responsible for managing phone communications emails and coordinating essential meetings.
- Email: During peak program periods; respond to a high volume of inquiry emails daily (25) while keeping track of essential messages from key
- partners.
- Phones: daily management of Programs phone and voicemail ensuring that calls get routed to the team members best suited to answer them.
- Meetings: Each year you will facilitate or cofacilitate anywhere from 1020 small or large group sessions.
- Outreach: collaborate with the Open Road Fund programs team communications department and relevant partners to support outreach and community engagement of the funds 200 (and growing) gift recipients.
- Assist in coordinating team collaboration by scheduling key meetings taking notes and keeping important insights or tasks front of mind for our team.
- Support the design and facilitation of virtual and inperson community engagement events throughout the year.
- Contribute to storytelling about the Open Road Fund by developing content for social media which will then be published by our communications department.

Physical Demands

Qualifications
2 years of experience in administrative work data entry and/or grantmaking for an organization or business
Proficient in Mac iOS Microsoft Office 365 Google Workspace Microsoft Teams Zoom and common web browsers (Safari Chrome Firefox)
1 year of experience or relevant training in project management
1 year of experience or relevant training in facilitating both small and large group meetings
Demonstrated skill in business and technical writing through direct experience or a strong portfolio
Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy conflict resolution and problemsolvingespecially in support of Black communities
Professional and lived experience in servicebased work centered on Black communications particularly with individuals descended from enslaved Africans
Desired Qualifications
1 years of experience recent training or a strong portfolio in one or more of the following:
o Salesforce Administration
o Public speaking and presenting
o Social media content creation
o Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud
o Experience in community organizing community development youth work education or social work
o Fluency in Haitian Kreyol or Spanish is a plus
**This position requires occasional travel throughout the year. Candidates should be willing to travel within the region and be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
