Job Description

In this role you will be responsible for the out of the box experience of Datadogs APM UI. When users come to our platform we want to answer not only the questions they have but also clearly surface the problems that they may not know about (e.g. anomalous increases to API latency and error rates CPU bottlenecks memory leaks uninstrumented services and inefficient database queries). You will work on a UI that should scale smoothly from a dozen services to hundreds or even thousands of services across a customers entire organization. In order to drive holistic impactful solutions for our users you will also collaborate closely with UX designers backend engineers and other Datadog product teams.

What Youll Do:

  • Lead a team of frontend software engineers identify opportunities to help them grow and foster a collaborative team culture and helping
  • Draw insights from customer interviews to ensure that the team is solving the most valuable problems for users
  • Dive deep into the code and architecture that supports the APM UI understand the connections between a customers UX and the underlying technical details
  • Challenge existing assumptions and patterns push towards a rigorous perspective on UX performance and drive a culture of operational excellence
  • Go wide across multiple product teams at Datadog to deliver an encompassing troubleshooting experience for users
  • Work with senior engineering leadership as well as product leadership to plan a vision for the team that looks beyond just the immediate quarter

Who You Are:

  • Have a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science Engineering or a related scientific field or equivalent professional experience
  • >1 year of management experience
  • Proven track record of consistent product delivery ranging from software development to collecting customer feedback and shipping features successfully
  • Decisive handson comfortable with rolling up your sleeves while also knowing when to delegate
  • Comfortable with product complexity able to reason about a variety of user experiences and design accordingly for them
