General Summary: The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of tasks involving the general maintenance and repair of school buildings premises and varied equipment. This role includes performing other related duties as required. The General Maintenance Worker may be required to perform cleaning event setup electrical painting woodworking fabrication furniture moving plumbing maintenance of athletic fields snow shoveling/plowing vehicle maintenance and other routine maintenance duties associated with the operation of school district buildings and equipment. Key Responsibilities: - Performs miscellaneous repair maintenance construction general installation and preventative maintenance work under the direction of the Supervisor.
- Performs a variety of repairs and tasks directly assisting trades personnel. These tasks include but are not limited to:
- Replacing floor tile
- Replacing electrical ballasts and fluorescent tubes
- Painting over graffiti
- Repairing fencing
- Patching asphalt or concrete
- Setting forms
- Installing paper towel and toilet paper dispensers
- Patching holes in plaster drywall and wood walls
- Installing projector screens and whiteboards
- Patching roofs
- Scraping paint
- Cleaning out keyways of locks
- Vandalism repair
- Preventative maintenance on equipment
- Pressure washing
- Locker repair
- Sheet metal repair
- Tile repair/replacement (ceiling and ceramic bathroom tile)
- Indoor and outdoor bleacher repair
- Grounds and tree maintenance
- Painting of athletic fields
- Conditioning baseball/softball fields
- Operates various equipment to perform cleaning/resurfacing of floors plow snow and paint/chalk athletic fields.
- Performs minor inspections of work performed or general building condition.
- Cleans worksites including hauling debris and trash to the dumpster cleaning tools and equipment and ensuring proper storage of tools materials and equipment.
- Maintains prompt regular inperson attendance and is available to work onsite inperson during regular school hours and as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
Qualifications: - Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 1 year of related experience.
Skills and Abilities: The physical abilities working conditions and other conditions of employment listed below are representative but not exhaustive of the requirements for positions in this classification: - Exposure to bright lights dust fuel smoke fumes dirt grease and chemicals. Requires extensive safety training and the use of protective devices such as face shields eye/ear/nose protection and skin protection.
- Ability to perform the following physical activities: climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching crawling reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting and gripping.
- Ability to perform very heavy work: exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Requirements: - Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- Frequent standing bending and lifting up to 50 pounds or more required.
- Onsite presence is required.
- Ability to climb stairs.
