Job Description

  • Current Department of Developmental Disabilities OCSEA employees shall receive first consideration pursuant to Article 17 of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • No additional materials will be accepted after the closing date; in addition you must clearly demonstrate how you meet minimum qualifications.
  • The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. RuleBackground Investigations for Employment outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being employed by the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Hourly wage will be paid at step 1 unless otherwise specified bycollective bargaining agreement or rules outlined in the ORC/OAC.
  • Unusual Working Conditions: Confined to work area for long periods of time.

What will you do

  • Provide information & process requests that do not require indepth knowledge of applicable federal/state laws rules policies procedures or legal interpretations to respond to inquiries request &/or complaints from customers
  • Proofread work & make all appropriate changes to ensure correspondence reports & documents are appropriate & errorfree
  • Provide support to update information in the Provider Certification systems as needed
  • Process applications via database &/or verify information in database
  • Process all modifications of incorrect data ensuring accuracy of all certification data
  • Enter data into appropriate data base on computer (i.e. prepares new folders inserts appropriate documents pulls folders & charges out to appropriate staff member)
  • Responsible for filing retrieving & organization of certification material for Home & Community Based Services (HCBS) & Supported Living (SL)
  • Work with ODM & Office of Shared Services to complete certification process
  • Crossreference data on spreadsheets & other reports with documentation in file folders to ensure accuracy of electronically entered data
  • Initiate & respond to correspondence answer telephone assist customers with routine inquiries forward application materials as requested & forward more complex calls to appropriate staff
  • Maintain an electronic filing system
  • Photocopy & scan documents & reports
  • Perform general clerical tasks & other duties as assigned (e.g. copies office correspondence & documents delivers & picks up files or papers maintained at offsite buildings coordinates material for mailings etc.)

3 months training or 3 months experience in office practices & procedures AND 1 course or 3 months experience in public relations or customer service to include techniques for dealing with difficult people AND 1 course or 3 months experience in typing keyboarding data entry or word processing AND 1 course or 3 months experience in operation of personal computer.

Note: in the telecommunications section within the Ohio Department of Public Safety employees will automatically be reassigned to the Customer Services Assistant 2 64432 classification after serving 6 months as a Customer Service Assistant 1 64431.
