Job Description Summary
The Social Media and Communications Specialist creates social media content and helps promote it via multiple channels including via the Chapman website and CRM communications. This content supports the universitys recruitment efforts and addresses the interests and potential/incoming students. This role resides in the Office of Admission and works in close partnership with colleagues in the Strategic Marketing & Communication ( SMC ) office and departments across campus to collaboratively optimize the universitys social media efforts for recruitment.
Responsibilities
Creates and coordinates social media content to potential and incoming students their families and college counselors. Distributes and promotes social media content across multiple communication channels. Assists in social media planning and reporting as well as developing documenting and disseminating social media brand guidelines and best practices. Creates manages and monitors virtual communities for admitted and incoming students. Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited highereducation institution in a degree related to marketing journalism or communications or a combination of education and experience. Experience writing articles news stories or promotional materials for diverse audiences. This includes experience interviewing subjects of news stories or subjectmatter experts. Experience using a website contentmanagement system ( CMS ) such as WordPress Cascade Drupal or OmniUpdate to create webpages and update content. Excellent communication skills including written and oral. This includes strong grammatical and proofreading skills. Proven ability to collaborate with others in support of large initiatives or ambitious projects. Demonstrated understanding of website development and website design principles. Demonstrated understanding of content strategy including user research SEO and audit/evaluation methods. Working understanding of a common style guide such as AP or Chicago. Experience working on promotional videos in any capacity.
