The Opportunity

The College is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Instructor at Dorchester Penitentiary. Employment Type: Casual

Salary Range: $33.85 to $52.08 per hour based on experience and level of postsecondary education.

What youll do

Responsibilities

As part of the School of Professional and Parttime Learning collaborating with and reporting to the Business Development Manager you are responsible for:

  • Planning and preparing instructional materials and resources;
  • Establishing and managing a positive learning environment;
  • Instructing and evaluating students;
  • Building and sustaining professional relationships with students colleagues community partners and stakeholders as well as other related duties.

What youll need

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree with related work experience (OR) Bachelors degree AND Certificate in Adult Education (OR) Certificate in Andragogy AND/OR a Masters in Education from a recognized postsecondary institution.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with at least three (3) years of related recent work experience.

  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a postsecondary environment.

Professional Skills:

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Experience with adult education and correctional facilities is highly valued.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problemsolving skills analytical ability and innovative thinking.
  • Selfmotivated service and results oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.

We may also consider other combinations of education and experience to be equally valid and sufficient for the position. The minimum qualifications for this position are subject to change and may be raised depending on the number of applicants we to receiving a formal offer of employment it is mandatory for the successful candidate to undergo a thorough criminal background check as part of the hiring process.
