ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Arc San Francisco is a nonprofit service and advocacy organization dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in San Francisco San Mateo and Marin counties.

We offer a wide range of services that touch every aspect of adult life including independent living supports skills building employment training and creative expression.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Employment Specialist plays a crucial role in transforming the lives of adults with developmental disabilities by providing essential training and support on their journey to successful employment. This dynamic role involves directly addressing barriers to employment developing vital job search skills and delivering personalized services such as situational assessments job exploration vocational assessments and personal and social adjustment support.

This position collaborates closely with the Associate Director of Job Development to guide participant job seekers through the employment planning and job search process and equip them with the skills to navigate their way to work safely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a caseload and provide employment support services to participant job seekers.

  • Develop job readiness curriculum and content and conduct training/workshops and job clubs for unemployed participants and job seekers.

  • Perform job analysis task analysis and job matching activities.

  • Analyze jobs develop instructional plans and provide initial job training to participants in integrated settings as needed.

  • Work with employers in followalong to increase the number of jobs upgrade jobs and expand hours for clients.

Stakeholder & Community Interaction:

  • Liaise with family members circle of support case managers and Department of Rehabilitation counselors regarding participant barriers and concerns.

  • Participate in community events and relevant agency meetings.

  • Build and maintain relationships with employers and community partners.

  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings conferences and training sessions.

Crossfunctional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with the Intake & Quality Assurance Departments for service referrals waitlists funding and caseload management.

  • Collaborate with service managers and job coaches regarding appropriate services for participants

  • Conduct glue meetings and collaborate with participants circle of support and the Workforce Development team to ensure smooth transition and onboarding at new placements.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Maintains documentation and records accurately and timely including but not limited to all Employment Support services monthly reports and data entry into funders databases.

  • Ensure services comply with funding regulations and maintain highquality standards.

  • Maintain data accuracy and compliance across Salesforce and other databases.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of one years experience as a job coach employment specialist or in a similar role is required.

  • Experience working with employment goals and in workforce development desired but not required.

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

  • Strong administrative communication and computer skills required with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint SharePoint Teams) and Salesforce.

  • Experience in professional settings is preferred.

  • Valid California Drivers license clean motor vehicle report and acceptance as a covered driver by The Arcs auto insurance company.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Repetitive keyboard use; phone use walking standing bending stooping and direct client interaction.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is primarily located at 1500 Howard Street San Francisco and require traveling to different employer sites in San Francisco Bay Area counties.
