Description

This position is responsible for partnering with administration to implement systematic organizationwide Performance Improvement. This position will be supportive of the medical staff peer review activities on quality of care and comparative data and focus studies in accordance with the PI plan Medical Staff Bylaws Rules and Regulations and the Peer Review policy and procedure. Has knowledge of relational databases and medical information systems and statistical methods and applications. Possesses data visualization and presentation skills both written and verbal. Also responsible for promoting and supporting Performance Improvement and Quality Assessment activities throughout the organization by providing data and analysis substance for the teams. Supports Risk Manager in identifying and minimizing known and potential risk to patients staff and visitors. Supports the design assessment and measurement of important processes and outcomes that may affect the delivery of quality patient care operational processes and strategic initiatives. Has a working knowledge of regulatory guidelines for acute care settings for required regulatory and governing bodies such as CMS DHH and Joint Commission Accreditation. Responsible for accredited program development and maintenance in order to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Supports quality activities in accordance with the Performance Improvement Plan.
  • Support the systematic organizationwide peer review program as assigned. (See Medical Staff Activities)
  • Maintain the statistical reporting data entry and database management for programs as required and assigned.
  • Support the Performance Improvement Committee meetings and activities as assigned.
  • Assist PI Director with project status and development.
  • Provide to the PI Director for the governing board administrative and medical staff bodies required quality reports containing findings from data collection analysis and review activities as needed.
  • Have a working knowledge of the medical staff and governing body bylaws rules and regulations and affiliated policies and procedures.
  • Find and correct data to support regulatory requirements per regulatory updates and other memorandums.
  • Serves as the content expert for all assigned databases.
  • Makes process recommendations based on results of data from assigned databases.
  • Participate in chartered and needed quality team activities as assigned.
  • Support and promote the scientific methodologies of quality: i.e. PDCA Lean and DMAIC.
  • Assure that collection assessment and analysis of data occurs for teams selected processes studied clinical practices operational and clinical outcomes and other pertinent functions.
  • Report data using statistical and scientific methods.
  • Assist the PI Director on team process: close the loop on quality studies in a timely manner and implement a control plan to maintain the gain and prevent process or system entropy.
  • Responsible for entry of data into the Midas system or other spreadsheet function for analysis and reporting of variation; and supports the system administrator for Midas.
  • Use Midas to provide quality profile information for the medical staff reappointment process from the assigned databases.
  • Support medical staff peer review activities on quality of care comparative data and focus studies in accordance with the PI plan and Peer Review policy and procedure.
  • Ability to demonstrate measurable results and achievements.

  • Effective at taking action on analyzed data improvement opportunities and then bringing the actions to closure in a timely manner.
  • Data entry analysis and actions are accurate timely and pertinent.

  • Demonstrate a teaching and consultative approach to the quality sciences.
  • Provide and identify resources and shares as appropriate.

  • Maintain a functional Nursing Peer Review Committee.
  • Maintain and promote a team spirit through active cooperation and collaboration.
  • Foster team development through the use of team building and development tools.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Proactive in meeting the customers needs by using appropriate quality science tools.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs or requests.
  • Express self in an organized comprehensive articulate and concise manner.
  • Work with performance improvement group and other best practice and task force teams through conference calls and meetings as needed and assigned.
  • Demonstrate extensive use of the Midas program for quality and credentialing services.
  • Support strategic planning balanced scorecard and business planning efforts as needed as assigned
  • Is statistically minded using inductive and deductive reasoning when problemsolving.
  • Use resources appropriately to augment personal skills and knowledge to help achieve worldclass quality outcomes for the hospital.
  • Effectively use selected and approved computer system and programs to manage projects data and reports.
  • Able to diversify to clinical setting when indicated.
  • Support quick turnaround of two days for most quality efforts.
  • Provide PI Director with project and data management updates.
  • Assists with strategic program development for centers of excellence.
  • Meet deadlines for regulatory compliance and project completion.
  • Support as assigned the processes for ACC STS Core Measurement CMS PRO and Interqual studies via data abstraction analysis action plans and reporting.
  • Assist in compliance with JCAHO Medicare and State standards as needed.
  • Assist with mock survey processes as needed.
  • Work in tandem with the PI Director to achieve full compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in measures to maintain Corporate Compliance.
  • Assist in obtaining data for practitioner performance evaluation.


Qualifications
  • 5 years ED or Critical Care experience
  • Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
  • RN Licensure Required
  • BLS
