Accurately diagnose and troubleshoot MSM (MultiSpace Meter) system errors; perform necessary repairs in a timely manner.
Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment such as modems control boxes coin acceptors circuit boards solar panels and internal electronic components (training provided).
Demonstrate mechanical aptitude by using both power and hand tools (e.g. drills grinders generators core machines) while following all safety procedures and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Use industrialgrade cleaning solvents to remove graffiti clean meter housings and support painting or restoration tasks.
Work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Interact with the public professionally and respectfully; communicate clearly and effectively while working in visible hightraffic areas.
Perform physically demanding tasks including prolonged standing walking bending crouching and operating MSM units; must have strong handeye coordination.
Work outdoors yearround in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
Shovel snow and remove ice as needed to ensure safe access to parking meters and equipment.
Install and remove meter hoods and temporary signage for construction projects citizen requests and special events.
Repair or install parking signage and singlespace meters as assigned.
Collect coins from MSMs when coin levels exceed established limits ensuring proper handling and accountability.
Required Skills and Qualifications for a Parking Meter Technician:
Integrity and Ethical Conduct: Must demonstrate honesty accountability and the ability to work without constant supervision. Trustworthiness is essential when handling meter revenue accessing secure equipment and working in the field.
Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel for logging service data tracking maintenance schedules and compiling reports. Familiarity with software used in meter management systems is a plus.
Motivation and Initiative: Must be selfdriven proactive and capable of completing tasks independently. A strong work ethic and the ability to stay productive without close oversight are critical.
Dependability: Must consistently report to work on time and be ready to begin duties at the scheduled start time. Reliability in daily attendance and task completion is essential.
Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Should be able to clearly document maintenance work explain issues to supervisors or vendors and professionally interact with the public and team members.
Valid Drivers License: A current and valid drivers license is required to operate city vehicles and travel to meter locations throughout the city.
Background and Driving Record Clearance: Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and have a clean motor vehicle record.
Drug Screening: Must be able to pass a drug test if required either as part of preemployment screening or during employment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform field work which may include standing for extended periods bending lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Full-Time
