Role Purpose
We are looking for a Research Analyst to join the team to expand our subject matter expertise on global solar PV operations and maintenance (O&M) including asset management and OPEX cost modelling.
The successful candidate will track industry trends gather data and conduct qualitative and quantitative research on solar PV O&M technology markets globally and support global O&M reports.
Responsibilities will include conducting original quantitative and qualitative research on the solar PV market and delivering this analysis to clients through written reports. The analysts work will support presentations to clients and address customer enquiries. This will include updating our cost modelling creating market assessments cost benchmarking and forecasting strategy identification supply chain support and competitive analysis.
The Research Analyst will contribute to a range of research publications related to solar O&M support the maintenance of our O&M cost model and technology datasets build a network of industry contacts and provide support and expertise to our sales and consulting teams.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct continuous primary and secondary research on global solar PV O&M technologies business models market developments and costs.
- Support the annual global solar O&M survey by reaching out to industry service providers and then collecting and consolidating the data received.
- Maintain the existing solar O&M cost model with updated data regularly and provide potential enhancements to its current functionalities.
- Contribute to market analysis on solar PV O&M dynamics and technology trends globally.
- Produce market reports and industry insight pieces with guidance and review from senior colleagues.
- Strengthen the data apparatus through surveys interviews and secondary research.
- Build a strong relationship with solar service industry stakeholders. Engage with them through frequent conversations conference presentations webinars and oneonone briefings.
- Provide highquality client service to research subscribers through responding to inquiries oneonone conversations and special events.
- Collaborate with peers across Wood Mackenzie to support research reports conferences marketing services editorial coverage and sporadic consulting projects.
- Grow to be a thought leader of solar O&M globally. Support the development of potential insight pieces for clients and the broader industry. Present Wood Mackenzies research at industry events around the globe.
About You
- Familiar with the solar industry and major vendors across the solar industry value chain especially service providers.
- Strong technical background. Knowledgeable about solar cost components and how they influence broader market trends particularly the aftersales market dynamics. Understand the major technology trends pros and cons of various technologies and their competitive position in the market.
- Experienced with doing market research using public and proprietary data.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving capabilities. Interested in using both qualitative and quantitative methods to answer market questions.
- Selfdriven. Capable of switching between the roles of an individual contributor and a collaborator.
- Superb communication skills. Comfortable interacting with clients and industry stakeholders.
- An engaging nature capable of connecting with coworkers clients and industry stakeholders in a wide range of professional settings.
- A deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of a wider business landscape.
- Superior writing skills.
- At least two years of experience working in the solar or power industry. Passionate about the renewable industry and energy transition.
- Bachelors degree required (advanced degree preferred) in a relevant discipline (e.g. electrical engineering energy business science communications etc.).
