Job Description

Job title: Chief Marketing Officer

Reporting to: Chief Growth Officer

Location: Cape Town (Hybrid)

ALL STAFF APPOINTMENTS WILL BE MADE WITH DUE CONSIDERATION OF THE COMPANYS EE TARGETS

OVERALL PURPOSE

Were looking for an experienced and dynamic Chief Marketing Officer to lead our brand performance and product initiatives.

The role requires a strategic collaborative and handson leader who can effectively work with others to craft and execute marketing strategies that drive awareness consideration and conversion while aligning with our core brand values.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping Lulas market positioning and ensuring our products resonate deeply with SMEs. By leveraging your expertise youll help us amplify our impact fostering meaningful connections with South African Business Owners.

As the Chief Marketing Officer at Lula your role will involve:

Brand Marketing

  • Develop and execute brand strategies that position Lula as the leading fintech partner for SMEs.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all customer touchpoints and communication channels.
  • Lead initiatives that build brand awareness trust and longterm affinity.

Performance Marketing

  • Own and execute Lulas performance marketing strategy across paid channels including channels such as Google Meta and LinkedIn.
  • Develop and optimise CRM strategies across email push notifications and other direct channels.
  • Manage the performance marketing budget and forecasting to drive efficient and scalable growth.

Product Marketing

  • Lead gotomarket strategies for new product launches ensuring alignment with customer needs and business priorities.
  • Partner with product teams to define messaging positioning and value propositions.
  • Drive product adoption and retention through targeted insightled campaigns.

Content Marketing & Community Management

  • Develop content strategies that inform inspire and engage Lulas core audiences.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of highquality content across blogs social media email and owned channels.
  • Use storytelling to clearly articulate Lulas value proposition and mission.

Strategy & Insights

  • Use customer insights market research and performance data to shape strategy and campaigns.
  • Track measure and report on key marketing metricsdriving continuous optimisation.
  • Build datadriven marketing plans to deliver against KPIs across awareness consideration and conversion.

Leadership

  • Build lead and mentor a highperforming multidisciplinary marketing team.
  • Foster strong collaboration across product sales customer success and leadership teams.
  • Champion a culture of creativity accountability and continuous learning.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WERE LOOKING FOR

  • Grade 12 achieved
  • Degree in relevant field would be highly advantageous
  • Proven experience (7 years) in marketing with a strong focus on brand performance content and product marketing.
  • Experience working in the SME or finance space is highly desirable.
  • Experience and knowledge in the use of martech tools (Segment Iterable etc.).
  • Experience in attribution tracking and modelling.
  • Track record of creating highimpact strategies that drive awareness consideration and conversion.
  • Strong analytical capability with a datadriven approach to decisionmaking.
  • Excellent leadership and teambuilding abilities.
  • Superior communication skills with an aptitude for storytelling and persuasive messaging.
