TITLE: Unit Director REPORTS TO:Chief Mission Delivery Officer CLASSIFIED: Full Time Exempt LOCATION:Brookings MISSION: To inspire and enable all young people especially those who need us most to realize their full potential as productive responsible and caring citizens. JOB SUMMARY: The Unit Director is responsible for the oversight management daytoday operations local public relations and crisis management of the sites including all Units extensions and community impact sites. They will serve as the face of the Clubs in that community. They will also be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the 5 key elements of positive youth development in their daily interactions with youth as well as their employees and are responsible for the oversight and compliance of Club polices compliance programming safety and culture. The Unit Director will engage with Club parents staff and the administrative team regarding administrative duties youth behaviors Club events etc. as assigned. All employees of the Boys & Girls Club will be expected to uphold the mission of the Club. - Crisis Management of the facility youth situations and Club management.
- Management of multiple Units Extensions and Community Impact Sites on a daytoday basis.
- Establish relationships with school counselors and principals.
- Public relations in the community on the radio television print tours and with public entities.
- Unplanned and unexpected projects or responsibilities that arise that may typically be performed by the administrative team.
- Ensure Unit staff implement the 5 Key Elements for Positive Youth Development.
- Exhibit the Club Values of excellence impact driven teamwork and good character.
- Facilitate and attend Club training including the monthly staff meetings.
- Responsible for interviewing hiring and disciplining Club employees as assigned and monitoring the process for all programs.
- Supervise assigned employees which includes writing 60day reviews performance plans and holding weekly and biweekly oneonone meetings as well as ensuring the unit and extension teams are getting completed.
- Ensure that all weekly or biweekly meetings for Unit staff occur.
- Responsible for results and execution of special events at the Clubs.
- Responsible for budget tracking in all priority outcomes staffing and events.
- Be informed and get involved in all major discipline and guidance challenges that arise at the Club.
- Ensure the behavior policy special needs safety and youth success plans are created and followed per Club policies and procedures.
- Build relationships with parents of the organization through parent orientation phone calls emails daily communication etc.
- Complete the annual Boys & Girls Club of America Impact and Safety Assessments.
- Provide grant administration by ensuring all grant programs meet grant requirements and reporting deadlines.
- Ensure accuracy of tracking of all duplicated and unduplicated youth participation in the areas of academic success good character and citizenship and healthy lifestyles.
- Oversee the recruitment and marketing efforts for the Unit.
- On snow and unexpected full days covering all shifts to ensure the Club can open.
- Continually evaluate Club programs reporting results according to established deadlines and addressing the needs of Club members.
- Responsible for required program updates for newsletters publications etc.
- Responsible for working in collaboration with other community groups to enhance services.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADMINISTRATIVE JOB DUTIES:- Attending 100% of all monthly staff meetings weekly oneonone meetings with supervisor and weekly Coordinator meetings.
- Responsible for holding biweekly team and individual oneonone meetings with all direct report staff and ensuring that all Unit staff receive weekly or biweekly oneonone meetings and that weekly meeting forms are being utilized.
- Responsible for hiring supervising and evaluating all direct report staff by the creation and implementation of 60 day reviews performance plans and quarterly reviews.
- Responsible for pulling null reports and reviewing overall entry and understanding of the membership management system.
- Responsible for budget tracking in all priority outcomes.
- Be informed and get involved in all major discipline and guidance challenges that arise at the Club.
- Build relationships with parents of the organization through parent orientation phone calls emails and daily communication.
- Provide grant administration by ensuring all grant programs meet grant requirements and reporting deadlines.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelors Degree from an Accredited University
- Experience working with youth of ages Preschool through 12th Grade
- Management/Supervisory Experience
- Positive and optimistic outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to understand implement and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities per the Club trainings and values of fun supportive relationships recognition opportunities and expectations and safety.
- Must be able to provide leadership onthespot and reflective feedback and supervision to assigned employees to ensure they too understand and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities per the Club trainings and values of fun supportive relationships recognition opportunities and expectations and safety.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:- Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe interact and communicate with youth staff volunteers parents etc. at the Club to ensure safety of the space and others provide guidance and reflection per the Club priority outcomes and goals.
- Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time throughout a shift.
- Ability to operate several types of general office equipment including PC telephone copier etc.
