Primary Purpose
Assists Head Coach in administration of the intercollegiate athletics program. Nine (9) month position with possible renewal based on identified funding.
Essential Functions
Develops a fundamental knowledge and maintains compliance of rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics while working within the departments rules regulations and policies. Participates in the effective recruiting instruction and coaching of studentathletes emphasizing fundamentals conditioning game preparation and strategy. Supports an environment that emphasizes academics as a priority making every effort to ensure that all studentathletes meet academic requirements while working to integrate sports into the academic life of the University. Supports discipline in the program promotes fairness understanding and protectiveness of studentathletes while motivating them. Helps to create an environment of cooperation and continuous improvement maintaining positive communications supporting the athletic program the University and University staff. Participates in marketing and promotional activities with media alumni and civic groups consistent with the objectives of the athletic program. Assists with recruiting evaluations official visits and any travelrelated activities of prospective studentathletes. Possibility of teaching and/or coordinating tennis club operations upon completion of the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. This position serves as Campus Security Authority ( CSA ) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree. Two (2) years of tennis experience either as a Division I Student Athlete or Collegiate/Professional Coach.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of NCAA and Conference Rules and Regulations as they pertain to studentathletes. Knowledge of effective coaching practices. Recruiting skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Positive attitude. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
Work Schedule
Work is performed in a standard office environment and athletic venues during standard business hours as well as during nonregular office hours to fulfill business needs.
