Casual Lecturer (ITC)

University of Tasmania Melbourne Study Centre

Location: Melbourne VIC

Classification: Higher Education Academic Staff: Level B (ECA employment contract)

Employment type: Casual

Reporting line: Academic Lead UTAS Melbourne

The University of Tasmania has partnered with the Education Centre of Australia (ECA) offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses to international students in Business and Information Technology.

We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced individuals for Sessional Lecturer roles to teach (Face to Face delivery) units within our Master of Information Technology and Systems (MITS) and Bachelor of Information Technology (BICT) Courses. If you have appropriate academic qualifications and teaching and/or industry experience and have what it takes to be a part of dynamic teaching team of UTAS Melbourne we would like to hear from you.

Required Subject Expertise and Software Knowledge in one or more of the following ITC units:

Areas of Expertise:

Programming

Networking (CISCO Instructor)

Systems Administration

Web Development

Project Management

Software Engineering

ICT Systems

ICT Research

Data Sciences

AI (Artificial Intelligence)

Information Management

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver weekly classes/workshops in an engaging manner and at a required standard
  • Conduct student consultation and academic counselling for students who require additional support
  • Assess and provide detailed feedback on student assessments
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with all stakeholders to ensure that academic delivery requirements are resourced and met
  • Advise the Academic Lead/Director on the continuous improvement of delivery student experience and campus operations
  • Implement early intervention strategies in collaboration with Learning Support Coordinators for studentsatrisk and monitor their progress according to UTAS Policies and Procedures
  • Maintain currency in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and that of the incumbents discipline by undertaking scholarly work and professional development

As the successful candidate you will ideally have:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline
  • 2 years experience in higher education teaching
  • Demonstrated track record in supporting the success of international students
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education Standards Framework and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students

Desirable:

  • Graduate Certificate or above in learning and teaching or tertiary education
  • Experience with thirdparty course delivery
  • Experience in working with geographically dispersed teams
