Your Impact
As the Engineering Manager for Mobile you will lead and grow the team that designs the technology powering Axon Device Manager Axon Device Checkout and the Fleet 3 Dashboardmobile IoT applications that connect Axon devices to officers in the field promoting transparency and protecting truth worldwide. Looking ahead this role is scoped for expansion: you will help define and staff the next wave of Axons mobile offerings consolidating experiences where it makes sense and scaling our platform to support additional applications and features still on the roadmap.
Youll collaborate daily with software engineers product managers designers and a Release Manager to turn bold product concepts into secure reliable mobile experiences. Your deep expertise in Android or iOSand broad knowledge of modern mobile architecture release practices and observability will enable you to set technical direction unblock delivery and raise the bar on code quality and system design. By mentoring engineers in the U.S. and partnering with a peer mobile team in Vietnam youll foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning that accelerates feature velocity without compromising quality and stability.

Where Youll Work
Location Boston MA (Primarily Remote)
This role is remotefirst with no fixed onsite cadence. We do ask that you live within reasonable commuting distance of our Boston hub so you can join the team in person for occasional planning sessions workshops or celebrations. Staying close to an Axon office lets you tap into our vibrant culture and forge stronger connections with your colleagues whenever facetoface collaboration adds the most value.
What Youll Do
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Direct Reports: 58 Software Engineers
- Ensure alignment of team objectives with organizational goals and priorities.
- Drive executionplanning backlog grooming standups demos and retrospectivesso the team ships predictably and learns continuously.
- Deliver new features performance optimizations and reliability enhancements to customers on a predictable highquality cadence.
- Provide dottedline leadership for the mobile team in Vietnamreviewing architecture roadmaps and release readiness while empowering their local manager for daytoday execution.
- Partner with Product and Design to craft intuitive resilient mobile experiences.
- Work crossfunctionally with other engineering teams (Cloud Firmware Middleware Other Mobile Teams) to deliver seamless integration of key components.
- Contribute to architecture discussions perform thoughtful code and design reviews.
- Collaborate with Recruiting to attract top talent then onboard mentor and develop engineers through regular 1:1s feedback and growth plans.
- Champion modern engineering practicesCI/CD automated testing and observabilityand cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and ownership.
What You Bring
MustHave
- Experience 8 years in mobile or software development with at least 3 years managing engineers; demonstrated success planning and delivering multiple overlapping projects that span several months.
- Scalable Processes Handson practice establishing engineering workflows that prioritize quality security maintainability extensibility and operational discipline.
- Leadership A track record of guiding and mentoring diverse teams while supporting both technical mastery and career growth.
- Technical Expertise Deep proficiency in either Android or iOS developmentincluding shipping production apps to Google Play or the App Store.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with both Android and iOS.
- Experience with App Consolidation
- Knowledge of Video Streaming and IoT Device Connectivity.
- Familiarity with networking protocols such as TCP UDP BLE and WiFi and comfort using tools like Wireshark or Charles for troubleshooting.
