What you will be doing

Reporting to the Academic Chair School of Business and Creative Industries you will:

  • Provide confidential daily administrative and organizational support to the Academic Chair. This role supports a very busy department with 9 programs approximately 25 fulltime Faculty and Support Staff as well as upwards of 400 students.
  • Coordinate the administrative and supportive functions activities and programs of the office. This entails logistical planning for meetings program scheduling calendar management record keeping and file management project management support coordinating special events and liaising with the internal and external communities.
  • Work with faculty to support the daytoday operations of the various departments.
  • Perform other related administrative duties as required.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a postsecondary certificate or diploma in Business or Administrative Professional/Office Administration. High school completion with significant years of administrative experience (10) will also be considered.
  • You have a minimum of three years (fulltime equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a fastpaced office environment.
  • You have demonstrated occupational experience with the following:
    • Managing daytoday office functions
    • Ordering office supplies
    • Reconciliation of invoices
    • Calendar management (meeting coordination and setup)
    • Working with data information in Excel and Word
    • Utilizing databases for information manipulation
  • Knowledge of the postsecondary application process would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite email and Office 365. Experience using PeopleSoft would be considered an asset.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.

  • You possess the ability to handle several priorities and necessary judgement to triage them as they present themselves.
  • You show a strong commitment to community involvement including volunteering for committees in the campus community.
