The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $124500 to $182600 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location education experience knowledge and skills.
Tasks and Qualifications:
What You Will Do In This Role
Principal Engineering:
- Lead a team of principal engineers on daytoday tasks such as:
- Support system design reviews at the preflight stage and during the award status
- Engage in PLC emulation reviews to ensure product complies with standards developed
- Provide expertise on system level drawings to ensure the Controls engineering team is fulfilling all technical and regulatory requirements
- Develop lessons learned from project sites to update standards and deploy those lessons learned within new projects
- Lead a team of engineers who are experts in safety and compliance. Ensure products and teams understand the latest safety and regulatory requirements and how to engage that within our product solutions
- Lead a team of engineers on VAVE / cost save initiatives. Drive improvements to designs with improved efficiency and technology but also cost save ideas
- Hold monthly (as needed) workshops with out PLC code engineers. Understand controlled and variable parameters and how to deploy those messages to site.
- Provide a high level of expertise to projects Technical support problem resolution leadership and technical integration
- Technical training to both new team members within the Principal team but also within the project teams
- Engage with other business units (Amazon East West) to identify common design solutions lessons learned and ideas to deploy crossfunctionally to projects
- Provide technical support and guidance to solutions development (cost estimating) team on new specifications and product requirements
Project Execution
- Ensure all team members have the tools and training to perform required tasks in all work locations safely. Promote safety culture across organization with a focus on zero incidents and 100% compliance.
- Ensure accuracy and achievement of performance KPIs for quality ontime delivery and cost. Proactively clear roadblocks to KPI target attainment for project teams.
- Foster a culture of compliance through open communication and by empowering all team members to raise potential compliance concerns through the available channels.
- Manage project execution risk through validation of project inputs (assold project documentation and the project schedule) effective project staffing strategies and comprehensive adherence to standard work and quality processes.
- Participate in presale technical reviews with Sales & Solution Development. Review for technical and costing accuracy.
Financial
- Ownership of shortterm monthly forecast across assigned projects independent of resource reporting.
- Manage costs throughout the month at the project level and take action as necessary. Communicate unplanned events to the Project Manager and engineering leadership as appropriate.
- Take necessary actions to ensure staffing levels and talent support current and forecasted workload.
People Leadership
- Lead team members by example and by living KIONs shared Group Values and Leadership Principles.
- Engage with peers and people to pulse on sentiment and perceptions. Provide input and recommendations to senior leaders to address opportunities for improvement. Recognize and promote people and team successes.
- Assess and assign appropriate disciplines and skillsets of resources to successfully deliver engineering content utilizing all available talent pools both internal and external.
- Identify and implement necessary training to address gaps in resource skills or expertise. Identify highpotential people for technical SME and leadership roles. Identify stretch assignment opportunities with Sr. Manager.
- Support talent development through active and consistent engagement including 11 meetings realtime learning/coaching opportunities and training programs.
- Engage in regular communications with team members via mechanisms such as: 11 meetings; project team discussions; peer group meetings; and people feedback resulting in documentation and tangible examples to support career development promotion any necessary Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and the annual OCTR process.
Initiatives
- Identify opportunities and ideas to improve team KPIs and efficiency. Utilize LEAN tools to improve processes and implement change within the team. Support and participate in business initiatives.
- Effectively communicate own the message and implement changes within the team ensuring clear objectives and adherence.
What We are Looking For
- Engineering Bachelors Degree. Advanced degree a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in related field
- Minimum 8 years experienceleading teams.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively in a teambased organization and with employees of all levels and backgrounds across all functions.
- Proficient customerfacing skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites customer meetings support presales activities suppliers. Up to 25%.
