Under the guidance of the Office of Career Readiness Director and Team Lead this position is designed to enhance capacity continuity and longterm strategic impact of school counselors and career specialists. The individual in this role will support and assist in developing implementing and delivering professional learning technical assistance and compliance monitoring related to school counseling and career readiness programs. This position is intended to support a team structure that ensures the sustainability and continuous improvement of school counseling and career specialist efforts that support every South Carolina student graduating college career or militaryready.
The person in this position will serve as a liaison for school counselors and career specialists within the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE). This role includes addressing compliance issues related to the South Carolina Comprehensive School Counseling and Career Guidance Model and the Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA). The position involves developing and facilitating professional learning activities that showcase best practices in planning implementing evaluating and enhancing school counseling programs that support students in achieving college career and military readiness. This position also provides technical assistance related to the Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) EEDA compliance and funding the Career Specialist Accountability Report (CSAR) and the South Carolina Comprehensive School Counseling and Career Guidance Model. Serve as a team member to ensure the sustainability and continuous improvement of school counseling and career specialist efforts. Participate in intra and interagency teams to inform and highlight appropriate roles of school counselors and career specialists. Perform other duties as required.
This position is located in the Office of Career Readiness.
A Bachelors degree and experience in education management or business.
Masters degree and at least four (4) years in education management or a related field with at least three (3) years of experience in the field of education with a focus on school counseling services. Masters degree or higher and five (5) years of experience as a professional school counselor. Basic knowledge in the development and implementation of comprehensive school counseling programs for SC students. Basic knowledge of the EEDA. Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively both verbally and in writing. Significant experience developing implementing and evaluating a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the South Carolina Comprehensive School Counseling and Career Guidance Model. Significant experience implementing evaluating and improving services mandated by the EEDA. Proven history of providing impactful professional learning. Ability to read and interpret federal and state laws and regulations. Ability to plan organize and develop statewide education programs services or activities.
