Job Description

POSITION TITLE:ALE/Virtual Academy Supervisor

JOB GOAL: The job of the Supervisor of Ale/Virtual Academy position is to establish virtual and nontraditional learning programs in concert with the mission and vision of West Memphis Schools implement and monitor learning programs virtual and nontraditional programs in alignment with the states educational requirements and aim to improve the academic social and emotional outcomes of enrolled students. The roles require supervision of assigned staff members. Overall the position ensures that the needs of virtual and nontraditional students are met promptly through collaboration across other WMSD departments/schools for the collective improvement of all involved.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program Development and Management
  • Facilitate the implementation of ALE programs ensuring compliance with state and district guidelines.
  • Work with Teaching and Learning to coordinate instructional strategies aligned with the specific needs of student in alternative settings.
  • Collaboration
    • Collaborate across departments stakeholders and staff supporting students to and stakeholders with teachers counselors and families to support the students individualized plan of study and providing wraparound services for students.
    • Act as liaison between ALE staff and school administration to ensure alignment with district goals.
    • Serve as a point of contact for external agencies providing services to students in the ALE program.
    • Provide training professional development and support to teachers and staff on strategies for working with students in alternative settings as well as implementing differentiated instruction and behavioral interventions.
  • Student Support
    • Provide ongoing support to students to ensure success within the program including setting goals building selfadvocacy skills developing independent learning habits and providing connections to additional resources as needed.
    • Assist students in navigating academic and personal challenges connecting them with additional resources as needed.
  • Data Management and Reporting
    • Document track and monitor student attendance academic performance and progress towards graduation and behavioral data in compliance with district and state policies.
    • Provide timely feedback and encouragement surrounding student progress and interventions.
    • Prepare and submit reports on program outcomes to school administration and state agencies as required.
    • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and communicate with administration to make necessary adjustments.
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATION:Masters degree; minimum of three years experience as a classroom teacher and/or in an instructional leadership role; valid Arkansas building level administrator license.

Attendance:

Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year.
