Job Description

Job Title: Director of Violence Prevention
Reports to: Chief Program Officer
FLSA Code: Full time Exempt
Hours: 40hour workweek; occasional night and weekend work
Program Area:Violence Prevention
Location: Mens Center 402 N. St Louis Chicago IL 60624


POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Violence Prevention is responsible for the overall administration of the program area. This includes providing strategic and longterm program planning implementation strategies consultation and direction of other team members as directed by Chief Program Officer Violence Prevention & Intervention. Works with program leaders and staff to create continuity consistency and uniformity of the organizations mission for the program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS
  • Provide administrative oversight and management of the Violence Prevention Program area including direct supervision of Associate Director Data Specialist and the Recruitment and Retention Specialist (B2OF).
  • Ensures strategy quality management and oversight of Case Management including Victim Services.
  • Responsible for ensuring timely data collection contract compliance and adherence to established processes and protocols for violence prevention staff.
  • Serve as a liaison and representative with Garfield Park Community funders and partners related to Public Safety when applicable.
  • Builds rapport and collaborative relationships with essential community partners for participant referrals to implement the program.
  • Develops and implements work plan that meets contractual obligations.
  • Ensures systems are in place to track performance and service implementation at applicable Breakthrough sites including Familyplex and Violence Prevention Hub in collaboration with other leaders.
  • Responsible for ensuring workspace reflects dignity and respect for staff and participants.
  • Attend appropriate meetings as official representative of BTM at lead agency meetings
  • Coordinate staff professional development/training opportunities
  • Performs other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in social services or a related field
  • Minimum 13years related experience OR a combination of related work experience and college course work.
  • A leader with a proven track record of results with employee performance and management.
  • Demonstrates comfort and skill using basic computer software such as Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook as well as other Windows based programs
  • Strong administrative and interpersonal oral and written communication skills
  • Valid drivers license

  • Direction received from the Chief Program Officer.
  • Supervises Associate Director Violence Prevention Data Specialist and Recruitment and Retention Specialist.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in a an office located in a multipurpose facility and/or outdoors and thus will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be high depending on the activities in the facility.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk and/or sit; use hands and fingers to feel objects tools or controls reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; regularly talk or hear. The employee must be able to bend stoop pull lift as well as have overhead extension of arms. Must be able to stand for long periods of time; be able to lift carry or move at least 50 pounds. Must adhere to proper handling and lifting techniques. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Equipment Used
The employee will generally use general office equipment including but not limited to telephone computer calculator copier overhead projector paper shredder paper cutter and filing systems.

Prior to the first day of work must complete a criminal background and sex offender clearance
