POSITION DESCRIPTION:Implement transportation polices plans and programs including statewide transportation plans; federal and state legislation; planning emphasis areas; federal grants; and related activities. Implementation may include providing technical assistance; coordination among internal and external stakeholders; data analyses; report preparation; and analyzing interpreting and applying state and federal laws and regulations.
Support transportation programs like the federal grant program through coordination with other offices tracking of project status; information sharing; and review of documentation for quality control. Participate in status meetings and work with consultants to meet deadlines. Develop and maintain SharePoint sites and external web sites.
Serve as an official department liaison for outreach activities as assigned. Provide technical assistance to internal and external parties on state regional and local transportation planning activities including federal grants. Provide information and training where appropriate. Coordinate meetings including developing the agenda coordinating presenters preparing presentations giving presentations facilitating meetings and coordinating meeting logistics meeting notices meeting summaries and other activities. Prepare produce and distribute brochures documents and web site content to promote planning activities including federal grants. Responds to emergencies.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of transportation planning processes. Knowledge of FDOTs work program or other financial and budget processes. Skill in policy analysis. Experience in grant or contract management. Ability to analyze and evaluate data related to transportation. Ability to interpret and apply transportation regulations. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to make presentations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to organize plan and conduct various types of meetings. Ability to develop and implement transportation programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Eight (8) years of experience in community planning comprehensive planning or land use planning. A bachelors degree may substitute for four (4) years of the required work experience. A masters degree may substitute for six (6) years of the required work experience.
