A Brief OverviewResponsible for obtaining prior authorization from insurers for medical tests procedures surgeries and specialty appointments ordered by the provider. Has understanding of tests procedures and preparation required prior to testing. Sees that all necessary paperwork and documentation is complete for each procedure. Performs other secretarial duties as the need arises.
What you will do
- Obtains preauthorization from insurers for testing surgery therapies subspecialty referral and any other prior authorization required by the patients insurance carrier
- Appropriately documents prior authorization and communicates information to the performing facility physician clinic staff and patient or patients family as necessary
- Performs other generalized secretarial duties as time allows including but not limited to: making copies maintaining incoming and outgoing fax transactions pulling charts loose filing general reception duties and scheduling appointments.

Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- High School or GED Equivalent If not a Medical Assistant must have 36 months experience or
- Associates Medical Assistant degree
