Job Description

The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence including electronics programs advanced technologies ground and communications imagery programs and systems engineering and launch.

We are looking for a Modeling Simulation and Image Processing Engineer (Senior Project Engineer Signal & Image Process Engineering) to provide onsite technical support for a major systems acquisition program within the Imagery Programs Division which supports the NRO GEOINT Directorate. This innovative program operates via a collaborative Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure that employs agile processes to drive decision making down to the lowest levels while encouraging innovative ideas to deliver new capabilities faster.

This full time position requires 100% on site work in Chantilly VA

What Youll Be Doing

  • Applies knowledge of systems modeling simulation and image processing to support Initialization and System characterization planning and execution.
  • Champion experimentation to further understand and predict product performance and to enhance/increase mission utility.
  • Lead the Prototype Scheduler effort to gain understanding and influence scheduler behaviors and conduct studies to measure scheduler performance as a function of CONOPS collection strategies and enterprise decisions.
  • Perform trades across system design and technology options and present the results in a cohesive meaningful way to support program decisions.
  • Participating in program working groups integrated program teams and anomaly resolution efforts.
  • Bring the best of Aerospaces engineering matrix to bear in support of the portfolio and oversee all efforts in your area of responsibility

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the Senior Project Engineer Signal & Image Process Engineering

  • Bachelors in engineering computer science or other relevant technical field
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid knowledge of systems modeling simulation and image processing to lead performance analysis and mission utility assessments
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel approximately one week every 3 months

  • An advanced degree in Engineering/Science or related technical field
  • Experience building and leading customer and technical teams
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Satellite Imagery Processing
    • Collection & sensor modeling
    • GEOINT system tasking and/or Scheduling
    • Algorithm development for target detection and tracking
    • System characterization planning and execution
