Who We Are:CAMBA is a community of staff volunteers clients donors neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development Family Support Job Training & Employment Support Services Health Housing and Legal Services. We reach more than 73000 individuals and families including almost 13000 serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
CAMBA operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive structured therapeutic safe and drugfree facility. Homeless (often mentallyill and substanceabusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing.
CAMBAs Park Avenue Residence is funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services and offers families a supportive structured therapeutic safe and drugfree facility. It provides comprehensive case management services to 63 families who are in a transitional residence program for homeless families.
Position: Driver
Reports To: Director of Security & Operations
Location: 4607 Park Avenue Bronx NY 10458
What The Driver Does:
- Perform daily pretrip vehicle inspection prior to first trip of the day.
- Immediately report vehicle and/or equipment that are inoperable missing or improperly utilized.
- Complete vehicle travel log for all trips.
- Assist passengers needing assistance in order to enter and/or exit vehicle.
- Keep vehicle clean and/or free of litter at all times.
- May make minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
- May escort clients to appointments.
- Other duties assigned
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
- Sufficient education and technical expertise to comprehend written and oral instructions (work orders); to accomplish maintenance tasks; and to document accomplished tasks.
- Must have Valid New York State Drivers License and Excellent driving history
Other Requirements:
- Must remain insurable based on CAMBAs point system throughout the duration of employment.
- If required to drive 15 passenger van must score at least 80% on computerized 15 passenger van improvement test every year.
- Acknowledge review of CAMBAs Transportation Policy
- May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified.
- May be required to become certified in overdose prevention.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Must sign NYC DOH/MH attestation stating that candidate has not been the subject of a founded child abuse report.
- One (1) year of relevant experience
- Must take Refresher Computerized Defensive Driver Classes every 3 years
- To accomplish maintenance tasks; and to document accomplished tasks.
- Bilingual (Preferred)
Compensation: $18.50 hourly
When salary ranges are listed the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and includes but is not limited to experience education budget and/or program size internal equity skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
Status: Fulltime (35 hours per week)(MondayFriday 8AM4PM)
