Position Summary:
Responsible for the day to day operations of Hospital Lab Services several lab draw stations across the Upper Peninsula (Escanaba Gwinn and the Upper Peninsula Medical Center) Reference Lab Business and the Blood Donor Center which encompasses three off site donor centers in Hancock Sault St. Marie and Iron Mountain.
Reports to: Assistant Administrator
FLSA: Exempt
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develops and implements departmental goals plans and standards consistent with the clinical
administrative legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Directs and evaluates departmental operations including patient care delivery information technologies service level determination and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities including hiring orienting evaluating disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
Prepares monitors and evaluates departmental budgets and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
Integrates evidencebased practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Supervises and delegates department inventory control.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Bachelors degree in Medical Technology
Masters degree (Preferred)
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
ASCP or equivalent as a Medical Technologist
Minimum Work Experience
5 years as Medical Technologist
2 years previous leadership or supervisory experience
5 years of management and administrative experience (Preferred)
