Job Description
The Church History Museum is hiring for a fulltime intern for the summer (June August). This position will support the preservation and safe handling of artifacts by constructing archival housing for exhibition materials ahead of deinstallation.
Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for the housing and movement of collections for the Church History Museum.
HousingThe Position will also be responsible for building appropriate archival housing for artifacts in exhibits ahead of deinstallation. The intern will also work with the crating specialist to finalize internal finishes and support for crates.
Movement of CollectionsUpon completion of housing the collections will need to be temporarily stored until use. This position will require carts lifts and pallet jacks to move crates and pallets to storage areas throughout the museum.
Qualifications
- Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation.
- Must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.
- Experience working with historical collections.
- Ability to use standard computer software and write legibly.
- Able to lift loaded archival boxes be able to work in environments containing a modest amount of dust be able to work in occasionally cool or warm temperatures.
- Able to lift 40 pounds.
- Able to provide regular oral progress reports and produce an overview report of work done at the end of the project.
- Proficient in Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proactive problemsolver eager to contribute creative thinker uninhibited and willing to share ideas and participate in discussions; detailoriented.
